Thomas A. Welch (Tom) is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and financial advisor with the Private Client Group of City Securities Corporation. He has worked in the financial services industry for over 15 years and specializes in comprehensive financial planning, retirement planning, insurance planning, and portfolio management strategies. Tom and his City Securities’ partner, John Sharp, work in unison with their clients’ legal and tax advisors to help coordinate their investment planning needs with their tax and estate planning needs. 

Tom seeks to be a filter of information for his clients. In the past, financial advisors gathered information and disseminated it to their clients. In today’s instant information world of CNN, Google™, Twitter™, and others, Tom seeks to help his clients determine what news will affect them and their investments. He helps his clients determine if the news they hear is actionable and how it could affect their investments. Helping others is his passion.

Tom grew up in Decatur, Indiana. He received his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis in 2003 after earning his A.B. from Wabash College in 1994. Tom became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ in 2005. He holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, 63 and 65 securities licenses, as well as life insurance licenses in Indiana, Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. Tom has been a FINRA arbitrator since 1999.

Tom serves as the treasurer of the Pike Township Educational Foundation and is a board member of the Kristen Eve Foundation. He sings bass in the choir at North United Methodist Church and has served on the church’s administrative board. He resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, with his wife, Sharel, and three daughters, Alyssa, Kathleen and Lizette. His interests include swimming, rugby, reading, composing and playing music, and coaching Katie’s soccer team.
