Robert V. Welch, Jr., Executive Vice President. Mr. Welch has been active in many aspects of the financial industry for over twenty years. City Securities Corporate Finance Group works with Midwestern based businesses with values between $15mm and $250mm in their efforts to sell all or a part of their business. Before joining City Securities, Mr. Welch re-engineered and headed the Indiana Housing Finance Authority, a $1 billion “bank” equivalent in size to one of Indiana’s fifteen largest financial institutions. Mr. Welch guided the Authority to several ratings upgrades and brought more than $750 million complex taxable and tax exempt fixed income financings to the public markets. Prior to this, he worked in corporate lending/finance with Continental Bank in Chicago (now Bank of America) and in the finance division of Delta Faucet Company (a major subsidiary of Masco Corporation). Mr. Welch is an Indianapolis native and holds a master’s of business administration from Indiana University and a bachelor’s of business administration (finance) from the University of Notre Dame. He is and has been active with many community organizations, serving on the boards of the Indiana Public Employee Retirement Fund, the Indiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (chair), Cathedral High School, the Indianapolis Private Industry Council (chair), the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, the Indy Sports Foundation (chair) and the Penrod Arts Fair (past president). He currently serves on several corporate boards and resides with his wife and four children in Indianapolis.

Brian L. Baker, Vice President. Mr. Baker has advised clients ranging from small, family-owned businesses to large, multinational, publicly-held corporations on accounting, financial, tax and legal aspects of corporate transactions since 1995. Prior to joining City Securities in 2004, Mr. Baker practiced as a certified public accountant with the Indianapolis office of Deloitte & Touche LLP, an international public accounting firm, in the areas of business advisory and assurance services as well as tax compliance and consulting services. While at Deloitte & Touche, Mr. Baker served clients in the distribution, manufacturing and financial services sectors, and advised on several mergers, acquisitions and public offerings of securities. Mr. Baker then practiced as an attorney with the Indianapolis law firm of Krieg DeVault LLP in the areas of corporate transactional law, financial institutions law, tax law and securities law. Mr. Baker holds a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law, a bachelor’s of business administration (accountancy) degree from the University of Notre Dame, and FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations in Indiana. Mr. Baker has been active in many community and professional organizations throughout his career and is a frequent lecturer and speaker on corporate finance related topics.

James M. Huse, Senior Analyst. Mr. Huse has nearly ten years experience in the financial services industry. Prior to joining City Securities, Mr. Huse served as a senior accountant in the business advisory, assurance, and enterprise risk services practices for Deloitte & Touche, LLP, one the of the world’s largest public accounting and consulting firms. During his tenure at Deloitte & Touche, Mr. Huse served clients of various sizes in the manufacturing, insurance, and financial services industries, assisting in initial public offerings and bankruptcies. Mr. Huse is a native of Indianapolis, a certified public accountant, inactive and holds a master’s of business administration, as well as a bachelor’s of business administration from the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Mr. Huse holds FINRA Series 7, 63 and 79 securities licenses. He is a member of the Indiana Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and serves on the ACG Cup Committee, an Intercollegiate Business School Case Competition. Chris Schmaltz, Analyst, has advised clients in stocks, bonds, and options during his career. At City Securities Corporation, Mr. Schmaltz is responsible for analyzing balance sheets, income statements, cash flows, pro-forma statements to assist in deriving a company’s valuation model. He currently holds the Series 7 and Series 63 FINRA licenses and is a level 3 candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Mr. Schmaltz graduated from Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. He grew up in Greenwood, Indiana, and his hobbies include playing golf and reading history books.
